Nick Jackson of IT - Interview

I recently had the opportunity to talk with Nick Jackson founder and driving force behind IT about their shortly to be released new album - The ctranger Within The Self

Jws Good Day Nick good to talk to you So tell about this new album what it all about

NJ Well its actually a little unusual abd there is an interesting tale behind it all

JWS Do tell…

NJ Well the album is a re- imagining of the album we originally released on a limited edition cassette (remember those?) Well it had long been out of print and some fans got hold of a copy abd asked me to for more to share so I released the original mixes to them then we decided as a band to revisit the album that was issued in 1994 with a view to fixing a few parts and remaster it fully.

As usual with the things nothing really goes to plan so we ending up virtually remaking the album from ground up be keeping a few original parts like the backing vocals of Jane Jelanik who sadly passed away in the early 2000's from lukemia, we felt this way about fine way to honour her part of the bands history..

The album is released on the 16th October although the pre order is open now the album on cd is a 2 cd set, One being the original 1994 alnum the other the new 2026 remodel and remade version, I think it is an interesting one to listen to

Jws As we used to go in school, Compare and contrast the differences between them

Nj Precisely, iI will be good to hear what people think of it all, plus we've already started working towards another album, AndyRowe who is my partner in IT and has been on board for many years now

JWS - I saw you years ago at the Robin in biltong with Red Bazaar and The Dame, it was good,

NJ yes Garry Foster was involved ed in that one if I remember correctly Garry has been a good supporter of IT

JWS i know Garry he's a fine chap!

JWS you're doing few show to support this release aren't you?

NJ Yes we're at the Camden Club in October then at the Flapper in Birmingham in December we have Freedom To Glide and Forgotten God's supporting both shows, Mark Cunningham does some backing vocals for the album he's another top chap, we've played at Prog For Peart

JWS I'm tempted to come to see you at the Flapper as that's easy for me to get to

JWS So what is your story about be8ng 8n the uk

NJ I was actually born in England and moved to Canada as a child, I came to London in my teens and did my O Levels here, I went back to Canada However I always wanted to return so I did! I love the Uk, The Music, The Culture, The history I live in London these days.
