Green Eyed Ghost - Leave Me Here - Progressive Voyages Review
I was contacted by Daz Meredith the father of the bands Guitar / Synth and Drum proggamer Paul Meredith who formed the band with friends from university who wanted an outlet for their feelings of Isolation, Ambition and Loss. As he felt this may be of interest to Progressive Voyages, he kindly sent me the cd to review.
To be honest I have struggled with this for some reason, Its certainly not bad at all, Yet somehow I've failed to really connect with it,, Which I am sure is my fault not the bands or the music that they are making, Some music can be like that I'm afraid to say, Certainly that seemed to be the case for me here,
So what is it like, well of the 6 tracks 4 are over 7 minutes in length and the shortest is just under 4 and a half minutes duration the best tracks for me are the longer ones especially Alter and Mimic both of which have a great sound and presence to the track. As indeed does the whole album which sounds excellent, I think Jon Astley might have had a hand in that as well though.
Opening Track lunar Park completely failed to make any impression on me it has a good sound but I really didn't “get it” at all and I felt the same about Born To Die again its me rather than the music. After those two tracks I began to get something better from the album with Bodem, Mimic and Alter all making some kind of good impression.
Open Elysium also appeals as it has a great vocal delivery by Luna Elenby and a fine build in the bass towards the tracks conclusion.
Their music is described as blending Etheral and Heavy elements featuring burdening Riffs mixed with Clean Melodic Vocals, For fans of Porcupine and Soen and other bands of a similar ilk.
The album contains 6 tracks and lasts for 44 minutes, the band are Paul Meredith, Guitar, synth and drum programming
Luna Elenby Vocals and lyrics
Ben Myles - Bass and Vocals
They are aided by Peter John Brown piano on Mimic
Charlotte Wilson - Spoken Word on Mimic with Peter John Brown
The album was mastered by Jon Astley
It really is worth hearing, Although it wasn't really to my own personal taste, Thoiugh I'm pretty certain that it will appeal to many others, Green Eyed Ghost are a new young band who show real hope for the future I think they would appreciate your support then you can claim to have been at their beginning can't you?
